Despite an exciting move to a new home, Miranda’s space didn’t feel like “home.” This busy mom was faced with consolidating items from two homes into one, and with a mountain of items came great overwhelm and anxiety coupled with little free time.
With collaborative goal-setting at the forefront, Functional Spaces addressed one area of the home at a time. Beginning with the garage, we led a thoughtful sorting process to identify the items that truly served Miranda. She made every decision from a comfortable seat, including her favourite hot beverage to sip on; to facilitate focus and ease, we brought each item directly to her. Miranda then had space to return to her day as we developed organization systems for her unique space and lifestyle.

Jennifer and her family were navigating not just one, but several moves as they built their dream home in Calgary and relocated from Halifax. With Jennifer still in Halifax, we provided virtual support with sorting and purging items, planning organization systems, and coordinating movers. In collaboration with Jennifer, the home builder, custom kitchen cabinet maker, and interior decorating team, we ensured that storage maximization, functionality, and aesthetics were prioritized. Functional Spaces then unpacked every belonging in the family’s new home, upon their move to Calgary. This included overseeing that all boxes were placed in the home safely and efficiently, organizing all items according to the detailed plan and enhancing the system with labels.
When Jennifer’s family moved in, a completely organized home awaited. The ability to move cross-country without worrying about a thing on the “big day” had relieved a major burden. Functional Spaces created an organization system that’s not only as beautiful as the new home, but smart and functional for the entire family.
